Losing a pet

Today I lost a long time family pet.
Cory, a jack Russel terrier mix has been put down due to tremendous pain and illness. he lived a little over 13 years and has been a joy to have. I didn't know something like this would have this much of an effect on me but since I've always known that he was always around I didn't ever think that this moment would come.
Finally, after a long morning of crying like a baby I can say this:
"He was a great dog and It's sad to no longer have him near.''
